Summary

  • The Biogas Power Plant (BPP) takes in wastes from the nearby farm in the form of pig and chicken manure, as well as other agricultural waste and energy crops transforming them to useful end products – Renewable Energy in the form of electrical power, thermal power, solid fertilizer and liquid fertilizer. The BPP ensures that there will be minimal waste in the plant through fully utilizing all input resources and maximizing the use of all outputs from the BPP.

Project details:
• EPC Company: Sobono Energy Pte. Ltd.
• Project Description: 2MW Biogas Project – Off Grid Electrification
• Biogas: Scrubber and Chiller
• CHB Biogas Engines

Output Generated
• Napier Grass output up to 265 tons/day
• 2MW Power plant capacity
• 1,918 kWe Nett (Grid Connect Configuration)

Organic Rankine Cycle(ORC) Room

Location – Tantangan, South Cotabato

Summary

  • This work proposes a co-generation system (also known as combined heat and power (CHP)) based on a biomass boiler and an micro-Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) unit to generate both electrical power, as well as thermal power in the form of hot water.

Process

We can produce electrical power and heat by converting Biomass agriculture waste (such as Corn Cob and Rice Husk) by utilizing the heat from combustion of the biomass into an Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC), in which the organic working fluid has a lower boiling point and higher vapor pressure than water and is therefore capable of producing energy by using low temperature heat sources. Depending on their various thermodynamic properties, the organic fluid is chosen to best fit the heat source, thereby achieving higher efficiencies of both cycle and expander.

• Developer: Biotech Farms Inc.
• EPC Company: Sobono Energy Pte. Ltd.
• Project Description: Biomass-to-ORC and Hot Water Co-generation Project
• Biomass: Rice Husk and Corn Cob
• Embedded RE Generation: 5.5MW (Nameplate)

Output Generated
•  Hot Water Output: Up to 25MW
• Plant Availability: 8,088 hours annually (>92% for Furnace; >95% for ORC)
• O&M undertaken by subsidiary (Alensi Philippines Corporation) since 2017.

Process

We process the Input Substrate, such as Pig Manure and Chicken Manure, Energy Crop and other waste stream through Anaerobic Digestion. In this AD process, biogas is produced. Methane is the main constituent of biogas. When combusted in the Biogas engines or MicroTurbine, it provides both electrical and thermal energy., A separate by-product of the AD process is digestate, which can be separated into solid and liquid fractions. The solid fraction is soil-like material, which is rich in nitrates and performs well as a fertilizer, while the liquid portion can be used as liquid fertilizer or processed further through the Wastewater Treatment Plant to meet environmental standards prior to discharge.

The Biogas which is produced through Anaerobic Digestion, is used as the fuel for the MicroTurbine and Biogas Engines to produce Electricity. The objective is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions due to the consumption of renewable energy sources and to the adequate waste management.

On the other hand, exhaust gases from the operation of the MicroTurbine is used by Egg Tray Plant to produces recycled environmentally-friendly fiber-moulded egg trays. This solution helps to reduce landfill and conserve the world’s forests.
